Home-grown fashion label Charles and Keith has been mentioned as the “new high street label to know” – all thanks to Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams who flaunted not one, not two, but three of the Singapore-based label’s bags at the Emmys.
Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams always approaches red carpet styling in her own way, and at the Emmys she went against the satin-gown norm once again. While her custom made embroidered Markus Lupfer gown, green eyeshadow and ruffled Louboutins showed off her unconventional approach to formal dressing, it is her dainty prism-shaped handbag which caught everyone’s attention.
Maisie Williams spotted carrying three different Charles & Keith bags on the red carpet of the BFTA, Emmys and the Emmy After Party respectively.
The actress was carrying a prism-shaped evening bag with a chain strap and gold tassel attached to the zip called Evening Wristlet. While most nominees will opt for a crystal-encrusted box clutch on the red carpet, Williams’ dazzled everyone with a chic vintage-inspired pouch called Prism Minaudière, which was priced at an affordable £39. She wore the same style in gold over the weekend to a BAFTA Tea Party in Los Angeles.
Williams must have been particularly fond of the wristlet – she was also seen with the bronze version of it at the tea party for BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) nominees.
The British actress’ bag got the attention of international media, including UK daily The Telegraph, which called the Singapore brand “the new high street label to know”.
Williams’ stylist Harriet Byczok told The Telegraph: “At the Emmys, the Bafta tea party and the Emmys after parties, all of her bags were from Charles & Keith.”
“It does cool shapes and triangle boxes, which are a quirky touch and also make her look a bit more grown up. She also wore a Charles & Keith bag to the Baftas, and I have been in love with them ever since.”
“Charles & Keith is the new high street label to know,” said the report. “Still an under-the-radar label in the UK, this is an insiders’ spot for expensive-looking, sleek handbags at an affordable price,” it added.
To many of us, Charles & Keith is a well-known brand in our homeland. The Singapore-based high street chain was founded in 1996 by siblings Charles and Keith Wong. Originally, the brand focused on shoes, but expanded into jewellery, handbags and accessories.
Still an under-the-radar label in the UK, this is an insiders’ spot for expensive-looking, sleek handbags at an affordable price as all of their bags are under the £100 mark.

“We are thankful for the positive media response and for our work to be recognised,” said the Charles and Keith spokesperson. “This shows the potential and endless possibilities for our brand to grow further and we’re definitely excited about that.”
Was there a “Maisie Effect” at work, which led to the bags being sold out after the actress flaunted them at the Emmys?
